• The Hollywood Reporter reports that George Takei is joining Season 2, both as a castmember and a consultant, since he was "interned at two camps as a child and is working with showrunner Alexander Woo, co-creator and executive producer Max Borenstein and the other producers to help ensure historical accuracy."

• Slate gives kudos to Jared Harris, who "always terrific, has never been better, and the final shot of him has hung with me all year, in a way little else has."

• Den of Geek ranks "A Mercy" as one of the year's best TV episodes, calling it "a surreal dive into what feels like another plane of existence as the camera takes us through the different corners of this tented carnival, as the men try to hold on to whatever sanity and hope they have left."

• According to Deadline, Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space), Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1), Shingo Usami (Unbroken) and Naoko Mori (Everest) have also been cast in Season 2.

• Jared Harris is one of 2018's best TV actors, according to Collider, because he "absolutely dazzles in the cold, grey environment" as he takes us on Crozier's "personal journey that becomes one of larger consequence."

• Cinema Blend commends The Terror's horror: it "combined a monster with psychological horror as the men faced the... well, terror of their circumstances in the icy middle of nowhere, running out of food, pursued by a creature that seemingly couldn't be killed, and susceptible to sabotaging each other in the desperate drive to survive."

• Decider, praising The Terror as "the best television show of the year," observes that the drama "finds ways for death to coax out the individuality and humanity [the men's] brutish and dehumanizing business had so long denied them."

• Zimbio applauds The Terror as one of the year's most underrated shows, calling the series "a man vs. nature saga that pits these disillusioned explorers against the unforgiving, frozen seas."

• Alibi deems The Terror one of the year's best TV shows, noting that "the topnotch British cast (Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, Ciarán Hinds) keeps the entire thing grounded in freezing, starving, terrified reality. Never has adventure, discovery and scientific knowledge seemed like such a terrible idea."
