(SPOILERS) Fear the Walking Dead Q&A — Frank Dillane (Nick)

Frank Dillane, who plays Nick Clark on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, talks about his reaction to Madison's big reveal, his character's deadly decision in the Season 3 Mid-Season Finale and what it means for Broke Jaw Ranch.

Q: What was your personal reaction to Madison revealing she killed her own father in Episode 8?

A: I really liked that scene... I had heard whispers already about Madison having some issues with her father, so it was nice to get it out in the open.

Q: What does it also uncover for Nick?

A: The very next thing he does is kill Otto, so I think he wants to protect her from having to go through that trauma again. I thought it was definitely a surprising thing.

Q: Nick and Alicia seemed to have been trying to get Madison to draw a line for herself not to cross. Did killing Otto cross a line for Nick himself?

A: I don't really know what it will look like. I mean, this is the first time he's killed someone that wasn't already dead. I don't know if that crosses a line or if that's just the way the world works now.

Q: What was it like reuniting with Mercedes Mason again?

A: It's always a pleasure to see Mercedes. She's lovely and a very good actress, so it was nice to have her back on set.

Q: Nick really found a sense of community among the people of La Colonia and with Luciana. How does her leaving the ranch weigh on him?

A: I think under these circumstances, there's a sense of relief because she obviously didn't want to be there. Nick didn't want to be put in that difficult position of having to choose between his mother and his girlfriend, so I think he feels a sudden weight off his shoulders. It's one less thing to worry about.

Q: Are the Clarks in charge of the ranch now?

A: I think Madison seems to be calling the shots. I suppose she likes to brace herself, so I wouldn't be surprised if she continued to be the leader of the pack.

Read a Q&A with Alycia Debnam-Carey, who plays Alicia.
