See How the Crew Ground the Scavengers Into Goo in The Walking Dead Episode 10

Simon decides to punish Jadis by taking out all the Scavengers and leaving her surrounded by the walkers they become.

Fortunately for The Walking Dead crew (and unfortunately for Jadis), that meant figuring out a creative way to dispose of all the bodies.

In a new video on the making of the episode, the special effects crew show how they created Episode 10's bone-crushing scene.

"It's a very unique sequence even for us," says Co-Executive Producer Denise Huth.

The trash compactor was an actual working machine, which meant lots of "shredder meetings" to ensure everyone's safety. And a padded green screen was built on top of the machine's teeth for the stunt actors to fall on.

It was a gory day on set to say the least, but Pollyanna McIntosh (Jadis) was grinning like a child. "Yay! More blood," she exclaims.

That's one way to take out the trash.
