The Whisperers are an enemy unlike any the survivors have faced.

Their leader, Alpha (Samantha Morton), is a master of psychological warfare and, as a result, "Nobody feels safe and secure" says Showrunner Angela Kang in a new behind the scenes video.

Alpha and Beta know how to get into their foes's heads, plain and simple, and that's what makes the Whisperers so dangerous.

"They're playing by an entirely new set of rule," is how Ryan Hurst (Beta) describes it.

And in playing by their own rules, the Whisperers are able to create an environment of fear and force the tired communities into paranoia and mistakes.

"There's real risk of the psychology of people spiraling into something very destructive," says Danai Gurira (Michonne).

Or, as Executive Produce Denise Huth puts it, "Alpha is the boogie man."
