With a selection of films from Mexico, Central and South America, and Spain, these films will leave a lasting impression on even the most discerning film buffs. There’s a little bit for everyone, including some truly haunting tales and thrilling adventures.

Huesera: The Bone Woman  
In Mexican director Michelle Garza Cervera’s 2022 debut we meet Valeria, who has long dreamed about becoming a mother. After learning that she's pregnant, she expects to feel happy, but something's off. This supernatural body horror film made its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and garnered Cervera two awards including “Best New Narrative Director” and the “Nora Ephron Award.” Watch it now on AMC+.  

La Llorona  
This 2019 Guatemalan horror film has already become a favorite among horror fans for its visual style and deft storytelling. The film focuses on an aging paranoid war criminal, protected by his faithful wife, who faces death while being haunted by the ghosts of his past. This was one of Shudder’s most-watched movies when it was initially released in 2020, and for good reason. Stream it now on AMC+.   

The Last Days  
This 2013 Sci-Fi thriller took Spain by storm when it first premiered, and in today’s post-Covid haze its premise hits even closer to home. Welcome to a world where the population is trapped inside buildings. As Barcelona descends into chaos, we meet Marc, who’s embarked on a quest to find his missing girlfriend, without ever setting foot outside. Brush up on your Catalan and Spanish as you dive into their post-apocalyptic world. Watch The Last Days on AMC+.   

Tigers Are Not Afraid  
Filmmaker Issa López creates a world that recalls the early films of Guillermo del Toro, imbued with her own spin on magical realism. This haunting horror fairytale is set against the backdrop of Mexico’s drug wars and follows a group of orphaned children armed with three magical wishes as they run from the ghosts that haunt them and the cartel that murdered their parents. Stream the film now on AMC+.   

Amigo
Amigo brings together psychological thriller and black comedy, bordering on the macabre, all in the form of an intimate drama. After a serious car accident (for which he’s responsible), David decides to care for his best friend Javi at a remote house. It doesn’t take long until animosity insidiously builds between them. Watch the 2019 Spanish film now on AMC+.

Shrew’s Nest  
In 1950s Spain, an agoraphobic woman spends her days inside the apartment she shares with her sister. When a handsome neighbor knocks on her door seeking help after a fall, she dresses his wounds and sets about ensuring he’ll never leave her apartment either. Macarena Gómez received a Goya nomination for her chilling lead performance in this gory grand dame guignol which pays homage to classics like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and MiseryStream it now on AMC+.
