In this unaired interview, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels recalls the making of the "Rock Box" music video.

"When you look at the video, it's not just a bunch of people from Harlem, black people from Harlem. There's punk rock in the video. There's metal in the video... There's a lot of white people in the video, but the black hip hop dudes were the stars. We were the frontmen," says McDaniels.

Putting black stars front and center in the smash hit "Rock Box" music video had a profound effect on MTV's programming from then on.

"The video on MTV was actually a live manifestation of what this record 'Rock Box' was about to do — cross us the f--k over," he explains.
