While Mammals take viewers on a journey across the globe, we’d be remiss not to mention the beauty that can be found in our backyards here in the U.S. Queue renowned wildlife cinematographer Ann Johnson Prum, who’s built a career and raised a family while documenting the lives of wild animals around the earth. We’re lucky to find her closer to home, in the arid desert terrain of the Southwest as she joins forces with her son Gus and introduces him to the family business.
Captured by Albuquerque-based director Shaandiin Tome, the short film, “Bird’s Eye View” created in partnership with Toyota Tacoma*, takes viewers along with the Prums as they explore the Southwest together in search of a stunning prize: a rare thicket of hummingbird nests. “I’m not creating it; I’m just capturing it,” says Prum as the film begins — and we’re so lucky to be along for the ride.
