Stephen Fung was born on August 9, 1974, in Hong Kong. He made his acting debut in Forbidden Nights in 1990. In 2004, Fung wrote, directed, and starred in his directorial debut, Enter the Phoenix, for Jackie Chan's JCE Movies. The film was a box-office success. Fung's second film, House of Fury, marked his first collaboration with legendary action director Yuen Woo-Ping (The Matrix, Kill Bill). The film opened the Hong Kong International Film Festival, was selected for the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival, and was one of the year's highest-grossing films. In 2009, Fung directed Sony Pictures' Jump, written and produced by Stephen Chow. Following that, Fung directed box-office hits Tai Chi Zero and Tai Chi Hero, the first two installments of the Tai Chi Trilogy. Zero was an official selection for the 69th Venice Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival. Fung recently finished directing The Adventurers, starring Jean Reno, Andy Lau, and Shu Qi.
