Into the Badlands

Emily Beecham

Nominated for Best Actress for this year’s British Independent Film Awards, Emily Beecham was universally lauded for her leading role in Daphne, an independent feature from The Bureau, for which she won the Best Performance in a British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Daphne is a vibrant character portrait of a young woman on the threshold of a much-needed change, and it showcases Beecham’s “outstanding lead performance” (IndieWire) as the self-destructive Daphne and “makes a persuasive pitch for star status” (The Skinny). Beecham’s credits include The Calling, the story of a university student who leaves her course to become a nun, for which she won Best Actress at the London Independent Film Festival for her portrayal of Joanna; the Oscar-nominated Hail Caesar; and 28 Weeks Later, with Rose Byrne, Idris Elba, and Jeremy Renner. For television, Beecham has taken key roles in some of our best-loved and most acclaimed dramas, including Tess of the D’Urbervilles with Eddie Redmayne and Gemma Arterton, The Musketeers and The Village for the BBC, Jimmy McGovern’s The Street with Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall, and Unforgiven for ITV.
