Kirkman explains how, after meeting Liefeld at a comic convention, Liefeld took him out to dinner, where Kirkman learned that Liefeld was even quirkier and cooler in real life than he had ever imagined. Then, when Kirkman was later down on his luck and wondering if he'd ever work in comics again, Liefeld was the one who pulled him through the tough times until The Walking Dead, became the hit that would change Kirkman, Image, and comic books forever.
