In a new video on the making of Episode 12, the crew detail how they created the wild fight scene between Rick and Negan.

Since the fight takes place in the dark, a "disco bat" with glowsticks attached to it was used to help visual effects track the movement of Lucille.
To light Negan's beloved weapon on fire, silica fabric was inserted into grooves on the bat and served as a wick.
Finding some backstory to justify how Rick comes into possession of his lighter took some digging and, according to Props Master Gilligan Albinski, allowed for a pretty cool Easter egg.
